Performance:
– Can be ‘trained’ for speed, power or endurance
-Stretch shortening cycle – when active muscle stretched
JUST PRIOR to contraction, the resulting contraction is more
forceful
-Total tension in stretched muscle = active (muscles) + passive (tendons, muscle membranes)
– Electromechanical Delay – time needed for muscles to stretch tendons & membranes(SEC), removing muscle laxity
