Feedback - Intrinsic vs. Augmented

Intrinsic FEEDBACK

– Is information a person receives as a natural consequence of moving

– Is provided by a person’s own sensory systems (eg. feel club grip in hand, hear of

ball contact, see ball flight)

AUGMENTED FEEDBACK

– Is information received that is not a natural consequence of a movement response

– Is provided by some external source – coach, teammate, video.

– Is supplied beyond intrinsic feedback and supplements it

– When provided by a coach, such feedback should not be redundant with that a

player already receives through intrinsic feedback (eg. you topped the ball)
