Description of MotionIn the normal standing position the foot makes an angle of 90º with the leg – neutral position of joint.

In dorsiflexion the foot is drawn up towards the leg.

RoM approximately 30º

In plantarflexion the foot moves away from the leg and from its neutral position in the opposite direction from dorsiflexion.

RoM approximately 50º

Takes place along long axis of foot, sole of foot turns to face the midlineTakes place along long axis of foot, sole of foot turns to face away from the midline
