|Description of Motion||In the normal standing position the foot makes an angle of 90º with the leg – neutral position of joint.|
In dorsiflexion the foot is drawn up towards the leg.
RoM approximately 30º
|In plantarflexion the foot moves away from the leg and from its neutral position in the opposite direction from dorsiflexion.|
RoM approximately 50º
|Takes place along long axis of foot, sole of foot turns to face the midline||Takes place along long axis of foot, sole of foot turns to face away from the midline|
