Angular Kinematic Quantities

Angles:

Relative Angle: an angle at a joint, formed between the longitudinal axis of adjacent  body segments

Absolute Angle: angular orientation of a body segment with reference to a fixed line of reference (eg. horizontal, vertical, global reference position)

Angular Distance vs Displacement:

Angular Distance is the sum of all angular changes undergone by a rotating body

Angular Displacement is the change in angular position/orientation of a line segment

Angular Speed vs Angular Velocity:

Angular Speed (a scalar) is the angular distance covered divided by the time taken

Angular Velocity (a vector) is the rate of change in angular position/orientation of a line segment

Angular Acceleration:

Acceleration is a ‘vector’ quantity with both magnitude and direction *

Acceleration is the rate of change in angular velocity ie. change in velocity over a given time

Direction

COUNTERCLOCKWISE direction is POSITIVE*

CLOCKWISE is NEGATIVE*
