Biomechanics

Biomechanics (a 1970s term)

The science involving the study of biological systems from a mechanical perspective. It uses the principles of mechanics to solve problems related to the structure & function of living organisms

Mechanics

A branch of PHYSICS that analyses the actions of forces on both particles & mechanical systems

  • Statics

A branch of MECHANICS dealing with systems in a constant state of motion (CSM)

  • Dynamics

A branch of MECHANICS dealing with systems subject to acceleration

Kinematics

(A branch of BIOMECHANICS) study of the DESCRIPTION of motion (in space and time)

Kinetics

(A branch of BIOMECHANICS) study of the action of forces
